New Certification Acquired: ISC2 CC

I understand this is kind of random since I’ve been focused on the CCNP ever since I started this website. Don’t worry, I’m still working on that😅 The reasons I went for the Certified in Cybersecurity from International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) are for three reasons: 1) Need it to potentially fulfill job requirements, 2) I’ve been curious about taking an ISC2 exam ever since I learned about them during my network security studies while working on my college degree, 3) it was FREE!

ISC2 currently is offering one million people, yes you read that correctly, 1 MILLION people the opportunity for free entry-level cybersecurity training plus a free certification exam. Click here for the details on how to get started. I believe this is a wonderful opportunity for anyone to delve into cybersecurity and best of all no experience is required. This is a good entry level certification to have in your resume if you’re starting the cybersecurity path or just IT in general. The information you gain from this exam can be applied to almost any facet of IT. Most importantly, as someone with a few certifications under his belt, this also proceeds a good intel on how ISC2 manages their exams.

Resources I used to study for this exam:
– “Official ISC2 CC Online Self-Paced Training” course offered by ISC2, this is completely free
– “ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) Cert Prep” by Mike Chapple from via LinkedIn Learning, this is a paid service, usually costs $20 per month. They also offer a trail period if you’re new.
– LinkedIn Learning also has a few practice exams you can use to train for the exam

Personally, I liked the training provided by Mike Chapple better. I felt more engaged with the material and he covered the domains thoroughly with great examples. I went through the final assessment via the self-paced training by ISC2 and the practice exams on LinkedIn learn. Once I started getting 90% on my practice exams I felt ready to take it.

The exam has 100 questions and you have 90 minutes to complete. I didn’t notice any questions that wasn’t covered in the resources I used. The questions themselves were pretty straightforward so if you take your time you should be able to pass with plenty of time to spare.

If you have any questions about the exam you’d like me to elaborate on please comment with your inquiry. Good luck with your studies!
