Week 1 of CCNP ENCOR Studies

How it’s going so far during my first week. A little rocky I’d say. It has been quite some time since I last studied for a certification exam so I’m trying to get into a rhythm of sorts and ease my way to setting up a routine where I study during certain times of the day and time.

But as mentioned previously, I approaching this certification from a different angle and having ChatGPT somewhat dictate my studies by having it focus on my weak areas and sharpen my stronger areas while minimizing waste in the types and quantities of notes I take.

I discovered a GPT called “CCNA, CCNP Mentor” which I verified if it covered latest version of the ENCOR exam. I also asked ChatGPT to provide the sources it references to make sure it was inline with the updated objectives such as citing directly from the second edition of the Cisco Press Official Cert Guide.

I then requested it to generate 12 questions for each exam objective and analyze my performance with feedback at the end.

After taking my initial practice exam to assess my readiness, it determined that I performed fairly well, answering 44 out of 72 questions correctly. It provided insights into my strengths, highlighted areas for improvement, and crafted a custom study plan.

With this new study plan I plan to take the ENCOR exam as soon as possible. My goal is within 3 to 4 months from this week. I’ll make sure every step of my journey and let you know how effective it has been.
